In partnership with The Institute for Human Services (IHS), KCC hosts an intensive Pastoral Development Program this summer for students ages 20-25 to explore their future pastoral and/or social services careers in a supportive setting with a variety of hands-on experiences. We encourage both local students on Oahu and the outer islands, as well as students on the mainland, to join us (we have housing available)! If you are a theology, religion, divinity, social work, or non-profit management student between the ages of 20 and 25, please review our program brochure at the bottom of this page and consider applying to join us for our 2025 program.
2024 SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAM
“I had such an amazing summer, and this program was such an incredible experience! I
am so grateful for this opportunity and would highly recommend this program to anyone!”
“I will forever be thankful for the opportunity to apply a variety of theological understandings in the
real world.”
“I loved my experience at KCC this summer! The program was very intentionally
thought out and I left with a holistic understanding of ministry, chaplaincy, and culture. We had
plenty of free time to explore the island and enjoy the beach while still engaging in our work,
and I felt very satisfied at the end of the summer. Thank you for everything!”
“The KCC community ensured that we, the interns, were always safe.”
“Pastor Irene went above and beyond to create a great learning environment for us which allowed us to grow in so many ways.”
“I really appreciated the wide variety of roles we got to try out within pastoral care and
chaplaincy. My ministry has always been a part of my life, but this internship taught me how to
turn my life into my ministry!”
“I learned a lot about addiction and the recovery process as well as learning from the residents about resilience and hope.”
“This program gave a well rounded perspective on the complexities of international
missions in historical colonized contexts.”
“I loved hearing a variety of perspectives regarding church and ministry and being able to engage in healthy conversation!”
